Byron Dean is an Australian sound artist, recordist and experimental musician working in the areas of composition, performance and site-specific art. His field recording practice explores sonic experiences of built environments, using acousmatic composition to examine and re-shape listening perspectives of place. As an improviser he works with a range of extended instrument techniques, everyday objects and field recordings.
His work has been presented in events, exhibitions and festivals in Australia, China, Scotland, Japan and Austria. He is currently a practice-based PhD candidate at RMIT University in the School of Art.
